The Third Wave /// New Smyrna Beach, FL

Sorry it has been a quick minute since our last brunch post, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t out running around eating all I could at Sunday brunch. Truth is, last week was the ever so fantastic 25th birthday! So this week’s post will be all about these fun, fab adventures.

Stop number one: brunch..obviously.

I took my adventures on the road to New Smyrna beach with an ultimate stay at the Salty Mermaid Ocean-front boutique hotel. If you haven’t stayed here, book it now. Other than waking up to a view of the waves, it is also walking distance from dozens of restaurants, shops, and activities.

I’ll get down to it, The Third Wave is a bungalow on the busy Flagler street, once you walk through the arch way to the back garden, you won’t want to leave— I would know, I was there about every day of my stay.

You have two mimosa choices: fresh squeezed OJ for $6 or store bought juice for $3. I love fresh squeezed juice, but when it comes to mimosas, I like good old fashioned Tropicana.

Everything on the menu is organic and at least looks healthy, which makes me feel good coming off this incredibly decadent holiday season. That being said, we had to order the Banana Bread French Toast. And yes, it was as good as it sounds.

If you want to sample a few things, you can order just a half portion which is a good little taste.

Then we get to the classics: the Southeastern Hash and the Basic Breakfast. Both an hearty egg breakfast.

The Southeaster Hash is served in a piping hot skillet with loads of potatoes, two fried eggs smothered in cheese, bacon, and avocado.

I must say, the use of avocado in this town is magical.

The basic breakfast is a basic breakfast (pun intended) of eggs, potatoes, toast, jam and bacon. We asked for some avocado on the side and they replied with “a whole or a half?” Magical.

Moving on to the frittata, delicious egg baked with caramelized onions, arugula, avocado and tomatoes. It is as good as it sounds.

The Flapjacks are delicious, be sure to add chocolate chips.

If you are more of a lunch person instead of breakfast, the West Coast Club is insane, the cucumbers have a nice touch, but the bacon aioli is to die for. Real chunks of bacon whipped into the sauce is good on anything.

Although I haven’t tried everything on the menu yet, it’s on my list.

The service was SPECTACULAR. I use all caps because, again, I went there about 5 times and I have yet to have a bad server, and I had a different one every time.

Sitting outside under the sun surrounded by green plants, palm trees, and market lights is a delightful atmosphere for a Sunday brunch, so pack up a beach bag and head over to New Smyrna Beach for the day.
