The Most Underrated Instagrammable spots in Los Angeles

If you’re anything like me you google “best places to take an Instagram picture in [ENTER CITY HERE]” almost exclusively every time you land in a new city.

I am not embarrassed by this in the slightest.

I take great pride in my Instagram and I should hope so because it is a huge part of my job. So that being said, I always want to know the hot spots to go take some catchy new pictures. But this doesn’t stop me from running around the city myself and finding my own spots.

On my last trip to Los Angeles I realized that the places people were posting about were a little overrated, packed with tourists, not what they seemed they would be or just down right tin the middle of a parking lot. So I threw out the list and we ventured to find our own places. Over dozens of trips to L.A. I came up with my favorite places.

  1. The Broad Museum

This place is incredible. There are tons of interactive installations just begging to be published on social media. My favorite was the infinity light installation. They always have new pieces on display for you to check out, also the outside is a very worthy background.

2. Per’s Rooftop Bar

This one is adorable. It has an ivy covered wall with a couch in front of it, they practically set you up for Instagram success.

3. Alfred Tea

I started following Alfred Tea on instagram a few years back when my favorite fashion blogger, Sincerely Jules, would post about it all the time, so when my friend Paige wanted to stop for a drink I was thrilled. The atmosphere in there is perfect, with their pink walls and cute signs and natural lighting all your pictures look professional as f**.

4. Beverly Hills Hotel Driveway

If you play your cards right you don’t actually have to be staying here to get the ideal pic. Tell the valet you are picking someone up at the bottom of the hill and you’re in like Flynn. This one you have to be prepared for. Stop the car, get out and grab your picture as quick as possible. My suggestion is get there early and tell your photographer to just keep hitting the button, you’ll definitely have at least one that you like.

5. In-n-Out Burger

Trust me. Every In-n-Out is cursed with florescent lighting but most have huge windows and are also flooded with natural light. They are also a huge hit on the gram. Who doesn’t love a good burger animal style?

6. The Silver Lake Steps

This collection of stairs in the Silver Lake area were painted to promote love and equality, they are cascading paintings of hearts and rainbows and hugged by foliage of all kinds. With the right cropping you will be left with an Instagram masterpiece.

7. Santa Monica Pier

Yes cheesy, I know, but the pier is so colorful and always full of life. If you get there by sunrise you will basically have the place to yourself and can get the magic shot with no one in it. Or you can sand right in the middle incredibly still at the height of traffic and hold the shutter open, I’ve never tried this myself but I’m dying to!

8. Venice Sign

Another one that you might think is cliche but this area has really great lighting at almost all hours of the day, and because of the way the buildings are set up, you hardly ever have a bad shadow and you can almost always find a time where no one will hijack your shot. Also, it’s not that happening of a place to be honest, its much more local than everyone thinks, or at least I think it is.

9 .The Commissary at the Line Hotel

This restaurant is on top of a downtown hotel and it is an actual green house. The entire building is made of glass and you are surrounded by plants, need I say more?

10. Griffith Observatory

Another underrated attraction with an incredible view! Most people just go to see the city skyline or observatory but I will tell you that it is the most missed attraction in Los Angeles and it is an amazing place to take pictures.
