Besaws /// Portland, Oregon

I am writing to you from across the country! I ventured to the great Pacific North West for my friend’s, Kaitlin, graduation! We are so proud she made it!

We had one request from our friend April, we wanted to get good old fashioned college drunk with Kaitlin. And we did just that. Last night was one for the books, we played pool, ping pong, sang karaoke and got late night pizza, so basically everything college.

So naturally it was more of a slow rolling attempt to make it to brunch this morning but we did! After lots of menu searches, recommendations from you guys and the hotel we settle don Besaws.

We changed our outfits six times each, ordered our Uber, and rushed to our hair of the dog.

I will preface my story with, I really liked this place and it was absolutely delicious.

We walked in to an incredibly perky, incredibly talkative hostess who was not the best for a group of hungover girls, we just needed mimosas, bloody marys, and food. The wait was 45 minutes and she sent us next door to a bar called Solo Club.

This place was adorable. It is owned by the same people who have Besaws and it was a great waiting place to nurse our hangover.

The minutes ticked by slowly, our hostess friend told us she had been running ahead of schedule but not with us, we had to wait the full 45 minutes and we were starving.

They led me to the table and it was originally meant for four people, we had five, they added a chair so it was a tight squeeze.

I had the nicest conversation with server about the table, we decided it was fine and we were more hungry than we needed space and she got me my much needed Coke while I waited for my friends to check out at The Solo Club.

Well, this table thing becomes a big topic of conversation. There was talk of a tiny table to put things at one point and then the server actually brought over a spare chair as a joke for us to put our water on.

The server was incredible to start, but before she could even ask us for our drink order April was ordering Chile Quiles.

Kaitlin and I split the banana bread french toast and a breakfast burger.

The total winner in my book was that banana bread french toast. It was so perfectly moist with just the right amount of crisp, ah so good!

The breakfast burger was good, I don’t know if I would order it again but it was definitely good for my hangover. It was a pork burger topped with bacon, egg, and apple butter (we are big apple butter fans).

April loved her chilaquiles. I’m asking her right now how it was and all she is saying to me is “it was so great, it was just really good, I just really loved it.” She added avocado which was a game changer.

Colin ordered the Chicken Fried Stake Stack and Biscuits. Oh. My. Gosh. That was a mountain of food and so delicious.

Jen ordered the breakfast has which she also loved and devoured.

Not only was everything we had delicious our server was one of the best. She was fantastic and on point. Because our tiny table was in the corner we were actually blocked from a lot of noise so we were able to talk and not be deafened by noise.

Our hangovers are still here, we are struggling to make it through the day but we have hope. We loved our brunch even with all the over played jokes about the tiny table.

Would 10 out of 10 recommend Besaws and it will definitely be a top recommendation on my Portland Guide coming Tuesday!
